Join our Investment Team
We are looking to hire an Associate specializing in AI/ML to join our growing investment team at Conversion Capital.
Since our inception, our thesis has centered around partnering with exceptional founders leveraging technology to drive the US and global economy. Historically, adoption has been twice as fast with each new platform shift (Analog, PCs, Internet & Cloud, Generative AI), and this time will be no different. Early breakthroughs in cloud computing have led to the sustained growth in AI, ML, and explosion in developer tools, which has further been accelerated by the introduction of new and powerful LLMs and generative AI. We have already witnessed the early impact of these advancements on valuations in both public and private markets, as well as the transformation of work and productivity across the economy.
We’ve been investing in AI/ML since our founding, partnering early with companies including Improbable, Dataminr, Pre-Data, RedOwl Analytics, Immuta, Timber, Frame, Truera, Fauna, Actively, Raylu, and numerous others. We’re excited about the next platform shift, and its impact on our areas of expertise, including Financial Services, Healthcare, Logistics/Manufacturing, and National Security. It’s Day 1.
The Role Will Include:
Deal Sourcing
- Identify startups aligned with our investment focus through research, conferences, and other ecosystem engagement
- Support meetings and calls with candidate companies to produce written assessments of technological and business merits and challenges
- Draft well thought out and compelling investment committee memos
- Perform competitive and market analyses related to investment opportunities
- Identify emergent regional and global technology themes by tracking publications and attending conferences
Deal Support
- Support research related to deal investment theses including contributions to documents that describe technologies, markets, business models, and investment risks
- Interact with pipeline companies across our portfolio
- Manage, maintain, and analyze portfolio and pipeline data within a CRM tool
- Build and maintain custom reports in support of Conversion Capital presentations
What We Look For:
- Technical degree in CS and/or Engineering
- 3+ years of experience including but not limited to start-up, venture capital, technology, and or business strategy
- Authentic passion for working with early-stage technology companies and a deep respect for entrepreneurship and investing
- Creative problem-solvers who thrive in unstructured environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as exceptional analytical ability
- Superior critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter, able to work in semi-structured environment
